TWEKD1 : Built and Driven by Tim Frey
It started with a 1977 four door white Lincoln Town car, Tim's first car. After a few years in high school auto shop, and hundreds of hours in the garage, that boat
of a classic ride was keeping up with the Mustangs that ruled the north side of Chicago. At a young age, Tim's unique style and attitude showed through his countless hours of wrenching in the garage earning him immediate recognition and respect as he rolled through the streets of Chicago.

Years later, Tim was challenged to build a car for his final project while attending Wyoming Technical Institute. Keeping true to his roots, hundreds of miles away from home, Tim wanted to take the 460 Big Block soul of the classic 70's Lincoln Town Car and place it in the lightweight sleek body of the 80's Mustang. Proposing the project to his professors, the question remained: is it even possible to fit a 460 Big Block into an 80's Mustang?

In his ever creative ways, Tim set out to find the cars for the unique hot rod project that had questionable doubts since its inception. First finding a 70's Lincoln rusting away in someone's Wyoming backyard, the motor and nine inch rear end had been found, and torches made short surgery work of the car leaving behind a shell for the junkyard.

Staying on a college budget looking for a clean 80's Mustang lead Tim to a car that was "female kept"; the interior and exterior were kept beautiful, but the fluids were never changed. This Mustang, with a blown motor and transmission, presented the perfect opportunity to take Tim's hot rod project to the next phase without breaking the bank.

After taking measurements and making calculations in the machine shops of Wyoming Tech with the newly found raw parts, Tim's professors finally gave the project the green light. Although extremely challenging, it appeared possible to combine the heart and soul of these two completely different classic cars from the Ford Motor Company lineup.

Understanding that this hot rod project was not going to be completed for years, Tim began the heavy work as his final graduation project. From cutting, bending, and welding the ten point roll cage in the car to meet NHRA standards, to designing the suspension and custom fitting the rear end, to figuring out how to mount a motor that really has no business being in that car, Tim had began undertaking a project that would take years to complete.

After graduating Wyoming Tech and moving back to Chicago, there were still years of work to be devoted to the project before it'd be ready to roll the streets: painting the car with literally glow-in-the-dark paint from House of Colors, mounting and tuning the dual quad Holley carburetors on a tunnel ram with a NOS fogger nitrous system, along with hundreds of other details were figured out over the course of years of hobby time devoted to make the initial vision a reality.

Finally on August 12th of 2004 this machine met the track, just watch the movie...

How to drive fast:
Gas is on the right, brake is on the left, push the gas pedal really hard... if that doesn't work, spray a lot of nitrous... if that doesn't work, try the TWEKD1 log sheets to figure out what you're doing wrong.
